Emma Indahl
WRITER
Hey brothers & sisters!
My name is Emma Indahl, one of the devotional writers here for Living on Mission. Wanted to just pop on and tell you a little about myself and the Lord in it all. I grew up in a Christian home. Filled with prayer, reading stories about incredible missionaries, reading and memorizing the Bible, and so much more. But despite all of this I did not take His word to heart and fell to the shiny look of the things of this world. All through high school and into my first year of college, my treasures were stored up for me on earth, not in heaven. I valued things like popularity, good times, good feelings, beauty, etc... instead of valuing my Father, my Creator, and my King. I still prayed, went to church, and would sometimes read my Bible, but I never let the Lord have my life. I would not walk as one who had been redeemed and set free and from this, I truly know what it is like to be living without Christ leading. It is like your heart being in a dry parched land, constantly seeing a mirage, but as they do when you approach it, it comes up, not as water, but as sand once again. One year, my amazing mom asked me to go on a mission trip with her. Seeking an adventure, I went the summer of my freshman to sophomore year of college. The Lord used that trip to reach me in a way I never thought possible. He showed me incredible faith through the people all around me and allowed me to take a look into the hearts of believers who truly take up their cross every morning and follow Him in the joy of their salvation. I came back knowing something had to change. I began to pursue the Lord with everything I had from the time I got back, saying "whatever those people I met got... I want". That very thing was FAITH, HOPE, and CHRIST. So, I came back, I changed my major to Christian Studies with a global ministry emphasis, lost a lot of friends, slowly shifted my heart to Him and began to learn more and more about Him in solitude and in the classroom. God began to open my eyes to the truth of His word and allowed it to be written on my heart through the power of His Holy Spirit. I wish I could say it has been smooth sailing from there, but as I am sure you all know, the Lord is constantly growing us and conforming us to be more and more like Him and though this is beautiful, there are times when it is easy and there are times when this is really hard because we live in a very fallen world. A few things that always help me through these times and things I just truly enjoy to the Lord’s glory are Christ Himself and His word, my community of people who pursues the Lord, reading books, going on hikes, road trips, and writing.
I will be praying that these devotions from Kaitlyn and I will be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to help you, convict you, and comfort you in your walk with God, as we wait in hope and faith for our Savior's return.

Let us spur one another on towards love and good works and never fail in meeting together. Let us be wise in the way we act towards outsiders, making the most of every opportunity, letting our conversations always be full of grace and sprinkled with salt to that we may know how to answer everyone.
